Machine learning competition in the Introduction to Machine Learning course
As part of the SCE Tech Festival, we ran a machine learning competition in the Introduction to Machine Learning course. About 20 third-year students were split into 6 teams and given a challenging task: to apply the tools learned in the course to a real acoustic analysis problem, identifying the amount of water poured into a vessel from the sound of the pouring alone, using classical machine learning only (no deep learning). Each team collected its own recordings, analyzed them, and developed models that met the challenge. My thanks to Dr. Amit Efraim, who volunteered to serve as a judge.
The first-place team, עמית ניגרקר, יובל חולואידובסקי, תמיר גרוסמן ואור בסטקר, excelled in smart implementation and original engineering and analytical thinking.

The event was featured on the SCE Facebook page and the festival website.

We wrapped up the competition with a pizza celebration.
